River Produce is a family business committed to clean, healthy agricultural
methods and to producing the highest quality foods. It is owned and run
by Kelly and William Newton-Wordsworth who have been farming biodynamically
for 17 years at their property, "Boraning" located half way between
Williams and Quindanning, on the Williams River (see
Contact & Directions).
"Biodynamics" is an advanced organic method of agriculture invented by the Austrian philosopher Rudolph Steiner. They use biological soil preparations to build soil life and health, and therefore the vitality of the plants and animals which live on it. They also use natural fertilisers and no chemical poisons or artificial fertilisers. The farm is independently inspected and certified by the Bio-dynamic Research Institute Powelltown, Victoria, to ensure that they meet strict bio-dynamic standards. Biodynamic is recognized as the premium organic method of farming worldwide. Presently available on the market are the following products: Demeter "A" Grade: Biodynamic Beef, Frozen "Take away" Beef curries and Bolognese Sauces, Olive Oil, Kalamata Olives in Brine, Salted Kalamata Olives, and Pistachios. Also available are organic Chunky Farmstyle Marmalade, made with Demeter "A"grade biodynamic oranges and organic sugar, tomato sauce and pickles, all made with biodynamic and organic ingredients. Their products are gourmet and health food items and are on sale all over Australia and their marmalade and olive oil are also sold by elite London firm Harvey Nichols, the buyers for which selected them for taste and quality after searching Australia for suitable products. They also have an "on-farm" Organic Shop, Café, Restaurant and accomodation. It is also possible to order from the shop, by phone or "on-line" for home deliveries. They take bookings from bus companies for lunches for up to and including 50 people. The lunches are three course meals that include an organic menu and talks on "Biodynamic and organic farming"; "Do you know what is in the food that you eat"; "Permaculture and alternative life styles" and a wide range of environmental topics. You can also book a lunchtime concert with international concert and recording singer songwriter, Kelly Newton-Wordsworth. (Web-design by Williams Telecentre,
